Is your dog thunerstorms horror?
OMG …. I have a pitbull mix of English Bulldog 46 pounds (muscle solid rock), who loses his mind when you hear the rain on a thunder. I went on today and let loose in the bedroom and the bathroom and she made a hole in the drywall about 2 feet x 3 feet chewed through the metal and pulled the socket. How can a small dog that power? It's really scary what some breeds of dogs are actually able to do. I think she could take up to a cow or something after watching this !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The vet gave me Clomicalm for her to take every day so you will be able to handle the storms. Has anyone else tried it? The FP also gave me something to give ACE if it appears that a storm is coming.
Clomicalm is really for the more generalized anxiety, takes weeks to accumulate in the dog's system anyway. Something like Xanax used Situational is probably a better bet, just give the dog before a storm. Some people have had success using melatonin supplement one on the counter. It seems that the veterinarian not really understand how these drugs work behavior that I'm sorry to say. I do not understand why the dog would be on medication daily, if not more than fear when there are storms. This site has a link to the storm and sound phobias. www.fearfuldogs.com
